Lund University is one of the oldest universities in Europe and the largest Scandinavian institutions of education and research; which consistently ranks among the top 100 universities in the world. The college is situated in the city of Lund in the territory of Scania, Sweden, going back to 1425, when the Studium of the General was established in Lund close Lund Cathedral, making it one of the most seasoned instructive foundations in the Scandinavian nations, trailed by Generalia Studia in Uppsala in 1477 and Copenhagen 1479. The University has two major research facilities currently under construction in Lund: MAX IV, which will be the world's leading source of radiation and the source of European particles (ESS), the European facility as the home of the world's most powerful neutron source.

The traditional university centers on the Lundagård park are adjacent to Lund Cathedral, with various departments spread out in various locations in the city, but most are centered on the northward extension of the park to connect the university hospital area and continue out to the northeast of the city, on a large campus of the College of Engineering.


Campus


The University's facilities are mainly located in the small town of Lund in Scania, about 15 km from the center of Malmo and 50 km from Copenhagen. The university has an importance through the large size of the number of students with their great influence on the city, making it a university city effectively. It also contains more than one hundred buildings of the University throughout the city, most of them in an area covering more than 1 square kilometer, extending northeast of the Lundagård park in the city center. The buildings include in around Lundagård of the main building, Kungshuset, the historical museum and the headquarters of the Academic Society. The main library building is located in a park extending 400 meters to the north, followed by the Grand Hospital compound.

Lund University has a campus in Malmö, the third largest city in Sweden. Which contains the Faculty of Fine Arts and "Three Academies: the Malmö Academy of Arts, the Malmö Academy of Music and the Theater Academy, all located in Malmö. The city also has the location of the University of Skin Hospital, where Lund University offers a great deal of medical research and training.
The Helsingborg Campus is, as the name implies, located in the city of Helsingborg, with approximately 50 km from Lund. Lund was opened in 2000, consisting of a building in the city center, next to the central train station and the port. About 3,000 students are on campus. The Department of Service Management and Communications and Public Information Management is one of those services located on the campus in Helsingborg.


University's library


Lund University Library was founded in 1666 at the same time as the founding of the University and is one of the oldest and largest libraries in Sweden. Today, the Library has housed six libraries of Swedish copies of legal deposit, the Royal Library in Stockholm, for future generations. There are Swedish fingerprints that make up half of the collections and are 170,000 meters long from shelves (2006).


The Hospital


Education and research in the field of health sciences at the University is in cooperation with the University of Skin University, located in Lund and Malmo. Medical education is held at the Biomedical Center, next to the hospital in Lund. To study nursing and occupational therapy at the Health Science Center nearby. The University also operates as a clinical research center in Malmö, which includes several specialized laboratories.

Lund University is among the most famous institutions of higher education in the Nordic countries and rarely ranks as 100 in the world by the most influential ranking agencies. Lund was ranked 60th in the world in 2014/15 QS for the rankings of world universities. In 2013, ranked 1 among the world's top universities in Scandinavia and 123 in the world in terms of rankings of the World Higher Times University, in the academic ranking of world universities, collected for Shanghai Jiao Tong University, in the 101- 150 category.
